When the first warm sunny days of the year descend into the valleys of Tyrol, it marks the beginning of the glistening glacial spring in our Kirchenwirt and up in the mountains. Skiers and snowboarders in the Kaunertal Glacier ski resort can enjoy perfect natural snow slopes until the beginning of June, while tourers can leave their tracks on magnificent firn slopes. Sun worshippers can celebrate sun skiing at its finest at over 3,000 metres above sea level.
Spring and sun!
Skiing on Tyrol's youngest glacier means pure, snow-assured, sunny fun in the glacier spring. Every single moment between blue sky and snow glistening mountains is an experience in itself. The ski bus picks you up in the morning in front of the Kirchenwirt and transports you to the lifts and slopes, while in the afternoon we relax on the Kirchenwirt's sun terrace.
Weisseespitze, Glockturm, or glacier crossing all the way to South Tyrol. Ski touring enthusiasts will find an endless high alpine terrain to suit all tastes between the rock formations of the main Alpine ridge where the ski slopes of the ski area end. The Kaunertal often has excellent touring conditions right into June thanks to its high altitude.
Snowdrops shoot through the last remaining snowfields in the valley. Dew drops glisten on tree branches in the sun. It smells like earth. Of the forest. Of the spring and new beginnings. You can recharge your batteries on wonderful walks in the Kaunertal and the Kaunergrat Nature Park. We recommend a walk up to the Ögghöfen or along the valley path passing the Hubertus Chapel.
