Late summer gives way to autumn in the Kaunertal at the end of September. This is when the first snow often falls in the high mountains and all signs point to a skiing holiday at the Kirchenwirt. A sporty time is coming. Skiers get to take their first turns of the season here earlier than anywhere else. We put together great holiday packages for the start of the season every year, including glacier ski pass.
Colorful season
From preparing for the season at home straight onto the steep slopes or would you prefer a gentle start on wide, blue slopes? Both are possible in the Kaunertal Glacier ski resort. The Falginjoch lift, built in 2019, takes you up to 3,113 metres above sea level in a matter of minutes. This is how high, sometimes above the clouds, you start the first descent of the winter.
Autumn time at the Kirchenwirt is also hiking and biking season. The mountains wrap themselves in a fascinating spectacle of colours. It is less intense on the ascent and the best spot on the summit is often still free. Our tip: An excursion to Verpeil, which at this time of year is particularly impressive, framed by golden larches, heather and white mountain ridges.
The Kaunertal Glacier Panorama Road is one of the most beautiful high mountain roads of the Alps. We recommend a ride up high to all motor sport fans, cyclists and mountain connoisseurs. You will pass through different alpine vegetation zones on the way and marvel at spectacular mountain views and natural perspectives.
Guests interested in culture are recommended to visit the Kaunergrat Nature Park House. They should also definitely get to know the "Flügeltoni". Immerse yourself in Toni's world. An hour of music and humour awaits you, something you won't forget anytime soon.
Our somewhat small yet fine relaxation area in the Kirchenwirt is the perfect place to relax after a cold day in the snow. Our guests can use their WinterTAL-Card to gain free admission to the indoor swimming pool and fitness studio, the Quellalpin, from October to the end of May.
