Hiking in the Kauner Valley
The mighty Kaunertal Glacier at the end of the valley supplies the Gepatsch reservoir, which nestles between the mountain ridges like a turquoise emerald. Observe colonies of mountain wildlife in this unspoilt mountain region, hike through alpine rose beds and Swiss stone pine populations to hidden lakes, mountain huts and unique summit destinations. There are touring possibilities directly from the hotel, or from higher starting points by hiking bus. Guided hikes and mountain tours in the weekly programme of the tourist office.
The Kaunertal Glacier Panorama Road. More beautiful? No chance!
The Kaunertal Glacier Panorama Road is one of the most beautiful high mountain roads of the Alps. We recommend a ride up high to all motor sport fans, cyclists and mountain connoisseurs. You will pass through different alpine vegetation zones on the way and marvel at spectacular mountain views and natural perspectives.
My Summer-mountain Fendels for families
Mountaincart track, single trail, mountain playground, refreshment areas, themed hiking trails. Games, fun and adventure meet in the beautiful mountain world above the small mountain village of Fendels at the entrance to the Kaunertal. The hiking bus from Feichten to the Ried-Fendels cable car is free of charge and leaves directly in front of the Kirchenwirt.
Day trips from Kaunertal to South Tyrol
Explore the neighbouring valleys, search for the sunken church tower on Lake Reschen or cross the famous "Timmel", the Timmelsjoch border pass from Tyrol to Merano. Fantastic day destinations await you in all directions at the Kirchenwirt. Ask your hotel manager Martin Larcher, he can give you the very best tips for excursions.
Bikers welcome!
Motorbikers start out from the Kirchenwirt and head for the region's winding mountain passes. Kaunertal Glacier Panorama Road, Stilfserjoch, Timmelsjoch, Hahntennjoch. All of them can be reached in no time at all when you put your foot down. You can park your own bike safely and free of charge in our underground car park.

You will receive the Kaunertal Basic Summercard free of charge from us from your very first night at the Kirchenwirt, with many benefits and discounts in your holiday region.
The summer lift ticket on the Kaunertal Glacier, Pitztal Glacier, Fendels and Riffelsee, including toll for the Glacier Panorama Road. You can use the cable cars as often as you like over several days, depending on the type of ticket. And more inclusive services!
